In 1932 a small concrete manufacturing concern was established in Spartanburg, SC, under the name T. S. Minus and Company. As ownership of the firm switched, the name changed first to McCarter Concrete Pipe Company and later to Tindall Concrete Pipe Company. Throughout the years the company remained small, and the only significant product manufactured was concrete pipe. In 1963 the Lowndes family purchased Tindall, which had six employees manufacturing concrete utility pipes.
Three years later the plant moved to its present location in the Fairforest suburb of Spartanburg. At that time, Tindall began fabricating precast sewer manholes. One year later production began on prestressed concrete building components. Tindall Concrete Pipe Company became Tindall Concrete Products, Inc., in order to reflect the company's expanded product line.
In 1986 the Lowndes family organized Tindall Concrete Georgia, Inc., which began operating plants purchased from Macon Prestressed Concrete Company in Jonesboro and Conley, GA, both in metropolitan Atlanta. In1988 the Lowndes family organized Tindall Concrete Virginia, Inc., which constructed a new plant near Petersburg, VA, for the production of prestressed concrete products similar to those manufactured in Fairforest, SC, and Conley, GA. In 1993 the Biloxi, MS, plant was established to serve the growing markets in the Gulf Coast area. In 2007, this plant was relocated to its current location in Moss Point, MS. In 2008, Tindall opened its fifth manufacturing facility in San Antonio, TX.
On January 1, 1998, the company combined its multi-state operations under one company name, Tindall Corporation.
